Beethoven's in the HOUSE

So every school year I have my class do a musical in May. I have been a "wanna be" piano player my entire life, so one of my goals was to play the piano for my musical. Well this year I was really going to do it, so I chose the play I was going to do in January and began practicing. Five months later (my poor family!) I finally had the 6 songs down that I needed to play. Well then my anxiety started to kick in and I didn't think I could really do it. The day of our program was last Thursday and Friday and I was close to having a break down because I was so nervous! I kept telling myself how stupid I was being because the play wasn't about me and my piano playing it was about the kids. Well Thursday came and the first show was at 10:00 for 1/2 of the parents. With very sweaty fingers, aching legs, and a severe stomach ache I managed my way through the first performance with not many mistakes. I had two more after that, then the final performance with the rest of the parents at 2:30. I made it through that performance with flying colors!! I was soooooooooooooooooo proud of myself and so amazed that I actually played in front of others and survived!!! After the performance the parents were coming up to me and saying what a cute show it was and how well the kids did. What? I guess they didn't hear my piano playing! Who cares what the kids did! Aren't you so proud of my piano playing!! I don't even know if the kids did their parts nor should anyone care about them!! Hello, I played the piano and didn't mess up, let's talk about that! Nobody said I did a great job playing the piano, so I guess it wasn't really all about me after all! Hmm, maybe I should send out a note next year and tell the parents I will be playing the piano at 10:00 if they would like to come. Their child may or may not be doing something in the background, but let it be known that I will be playing and I would like their full attention!
Just in case you were on pins and needles about the performance on Friday. . .I did great! I even played in front of my mom and dad without a mistake and thankfully they appreciated my skills and told me what a good job I had done. Once again, I don't know how my students did, but who really cares anyway! We all know who this is really about! :)
P.S. If you happen to be reading this and are a parent of one of my current students, I am joking! I hope you got that, but just in case!

You Rock. I could never play in front of a crowd. Tomorrow I go to a puppet show Tyler's class is putting on and I will make sure to pay attention & give credit to his teacher....... LOL

Jessica,

This was pretty much one of the funniest posts I have ever read. Your writing skills are right up there with your piano playing skills.

Thanks:)
